The Leger Library & Student Services Centre

Meadowridge School’s newly reimagined library—the Leger Library & Student Services Centre—will be the hub for the student experience.

Throughout the Campus Master Plan, you'll see spaces that align with the strategic, educational shifts we've made: classes are more interactive and immersive, student support is more individualized and ample, and the student experience is enriched.

The Leger Library and Student Services Centre will pull students' academic journey together. The completed space will offer a thoughtfully designed library, suitable for all ages of learners, with greater flexibility and customization of spaces. It will also house all the necessary services our students need to thrive, including Social Emotional Counselling, Academic Support, and Information Technology. The redesign will also bring our Senior and Educational Leadership Teams close together. It will also allow our Post-Secondary Counselling department to move into the High School into a larger, brighter, and more centralized space.

Central Library for All

A library that is shared by all but serves the distinct needs of our elementary, middle and high school learners. Breakout spaces will be expanded and designed with flexibility in mind to support a range of activities, including group work.

Social Emotional Support Centre

A dedicated Social Emotional Support Centre, where the community can access support. An additional full-time, on-site Social Emotional Counsellor will benefit students.

Academic Support Centre

An Academic Support Centre, where students across the Continuum can access the resources, supports and people that will help them with their learning and unique needs.

Leadership Hubs

Spaces which will bring together previously scattered administrators with adjacent offices, allowing more interaction and collaboration with each other.

IT Help Desk

An information technology help desk to support students and learning. Centrally located to serve students across the Continuum.

Breakout & Study Spaces

Breakout spaces will be expanded and designed with flexibility in mind. Provide space for personal research, collaborative group projects, or quiet catch-ups.

“In the past, our programs have had to adapt to the constraints of our buildings.
Through the Campus Master Plan, we’re reimagining our spaces so that programming leads the design.”

Scott Banack, Head of School

“I am paying it forward to the future generations of children, and hopefully my grandchildren. Our gift allows the campus to expand in more exciting and interesting ways that will create more opportunities for children to experience education in their own special way.”

Student-Centered, Evidence-Based, Community-Driven

The designs and plans for the Leger Library & Student Services Centre have been shaped by research and collaboration with our community.

It's more important than ever to prioritize the mental health and well-being of our students while also fostering their resilience, focus, grit, and capacity for deep thinking. Meadowridge programs are well-equipped to address these needs, with inquiry-based learning consistently demonstrating its effectiveness in preparing students for future success. The Diploma Programme, which is the culmination of a student’s experience at Meadowridge, has shown to prepare graduates to enroll in, persist through, and complete their post-secondary studies at higher rates than other programs.

To address the evolving needs of students and further enhance inquiry-based learning, the Leger Library & Student Services Centre will offer:

  • Integrated social-emotional counseling,
  • Academic support,
  • Library services,
  • Spaces for collaboration and group work,
  • Other features designed to promote students’ educational growth and mental well-being.

Funding Our Plan

Transformative ideas in education are brought to life through philanthropy. Through careful financial planning, strategic investment, and a thoughtful approach to growth, we are proud to move forward with this next major initiative as part of our broader campus master plan.

Leading this effort is a generous $1 million gift from the Leger & Ward Family, in whose honour the library will be named. They are joined by a community of dedicated supporters whose generosity has made this vision possible, and we are excited to begin the project.

Realizing the Plan

The completion of the Foundations Projects in Fall 2025 lays the groundwork for future renovations and additions, including the Leger Library & Student Services Centre. With our fundraising goal achieved, we are now moving forward with permitting and tendering, with construction expected to begin in early June.

While work will take place during the school year, careful planning will ensure that all programs continue smoothly, with only minor adjustments, minimizing noise and disruption.

Sustainability

The Leger Library & Student Services Centre will be built with intention. To support Meadowridge School's Regenerative Sustainability Plans, we have sourced and designed sustainable materials and plans. For example, the renovation will include updated mechanical systems that will improve energy efficiency.
